ReGen Storytelling Workshops

The ReGen Storytelling Workshops fostered intergenerational relationships through improvisation and storytelling. Limelight LLC - a theatre consulting company that creates theatre and uses theatre as a story-telling, community building, and/or problem-solving tool – worked with Ypsilanti Senior Center and Detroit Area Agency on Aging to plan and coordinate  a series of virtual workshops, with four sessions each, in Ypsilanti and various communities across Detroit. Each workshop began with improvisational shared storytelling and ended with a story product shaped by each participant in the workshop. In each workshop participants logged onto Zoom to engage in storytelling as a collective group. They then transitioned into one-on-one intergenerational break-out rooms that fostered intimate engaging conversations surrounding such prompts as “share a story you have of something uncharted, a story in progress, or the story you need to tell.” Following the break-out rooms the group would share and reflect about the stories.

HomeBound Podcast

HomeBound is an intergenerational podcast available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google and Stitcher and includes 8 shows produced over two seasons (Fall 2020 and Summer/Fall 2021).  The podcast created by Limelight, a theatre consulting company that creates theatre and uses theatre as a story-telling, community building, and/or problem-solving tool, focused on giving voice to older and younger people in Ypsilanti and Detroit during the time when both were ‘homebound’ and had little access and mobility. Each season is made up of 8-10 interview pairs whose voices and conversations are integrated into each episode and each episode is thematically oriented. Over the 8 episodes of the HomeBound Podcast, we featured 10 voices from the younger generation and 12 voices from the older generation.
