Brilliant Detroit - Detroit
Over the 2021-22 year, Brilliant Detroit, a non-profit dedicated to “building kid success families and neighborhoods where families with children 0-8 have what they need to be school-ready, healthy and stable” has begun implementing a variety of intergenerational programs and activities. These include:
Detroit Neighborhood Pride - Learning from the past and looking to the future! – A family literacy program that teaches participants to become community historians for their own neighborhood.
Seasoned Soul - An intergenerational low-impact exercise program
Mom’s Table Talk - An intergenerational gathering of women who come together to discuss topics relevant to life and being a caregiver.
Martial arts - Children, youth, and family martial arts activities designed to assist coordination, strength, agility and flexibility and foster overall well-being.

Beginning in 2022, Brilliant Detroit will launch Experience Corps, an evidence-based program that empowers people over 50 to serve as tutors to help students become better readers by the end of third grade. It is a proven “triple win,” helping students succeed, older adults thrive, and communities grow stronger.
